ATM troubleshooting guide

The ATM gearbox is an excellent choice for players seeking straightforward maintenance, stable performance, consistent grouping, and a realistic firing experience, thanks to its signature reciprocating bolt system.

Like the real-world platforms that inspire its operation, the ATM system incorporates several built-in safeguards designed to reduce accidental firing and protect the mechanism when a feeding issue occurs. These features may cause the bolt to lock open under certain conditions.

This guide explains how to power the system on and off correctly, identify common bolt-lock situations, and safely restore normal operation.

Powering On the ATM System

Before connecting the battery, confirm that the blaster is unloaded and pointed in a safe direction.

1. Set the fire selector to SAFE.

2. Ensure the bolt is fully closed and in the forward position.

3. Connect the battery while the selector remains on SAFE.

4. Pull the trigger once while the blaster is still on SAFE.

5. Select your desired firing mode when you are ready to use the blaster.

Why Has the Bolt Locked Open?

The ATM bolt will lock open when the system detects one of the following conditions.

No Magazine Inserted

- Insert a compatible magazine that has been properly loaded with gels.

Magazine Is Empty or Contains Too Few Gels

- Remove the magazine, refill it with correctly prepared gels, and reinsert it securely.

Misfeed Caused by Incorrect Gel Size

- Press the bolt release to attempt to feed the gel and return the bolt to its forward position. Using correctly grown and appropriately sized gels will help reduce future misfeeds.

System Jam and the Bolt Release Does Not Work

- Switch the blaster to SEMI mode, then hold the trigger and bolt release simultaneously to reset the system.

Bolt Is Stuck Halfway

Do not pull the trigger or force the bolt.

- Switch the blaster off, disconnect the battery, and bring it to the BBGB store for inspection by our Tech Team. Continuing to operate the system may cause further damage.

Powering Off the ATM System

1. Remove the magazine.

2. Confirm that the bolt is fully closed and in the forward position.

3. Set the fire selector to SAFE.

4. Clear or eject any remaining gel from the system.

5. Disconnect the battery.

Battery Consumption

The ATM system uses more power than a conventional non-blowback gearbox because it must operate the reciprocating bolt assembly.

We recommend changing the battery once its charge falls below approximately 70%, particularly if the bolt begins to sound sluggish or cycles more slowly than usual. Continuing with a low battery may result in incomplete cycling, feeding issues, or the bolt becoming stuck.

For the best experience, keep a fully charged spare battery available during longer game sessions.

Final Reminder

Never force a jammed or partially open bolt or stick your fingers inside. When basic troubleshooting does not restore normal operation, power the blaster down and allow the BBGB Tech Team to inspect it.
